DJ AM and Nicole .... On or Off?

I don't know usually when I break up with someone I stop hanging out with them, but that's just me. So why are DJ AM and Nicole out shopping for Christmas trees? and why are they still planning to spend New Year's Eve together in Miami at South Beach hotspot Mansion. According to Page Six, A close friend says they are both bringing their posses and "AM is still hoping for a reconciliation."
