TomKat Spawn is Born!

April 18, 2006 People.com reports at 6:30 p.m. ET that Holmes has given birth to daughter Suri.

Suri - Hebrew for princess and Persian for red rose, weighed in at seven pounds and seven ounces, and mother and baby are both said to be doing very well.

The spokesman for the couple refused to give any details of the birth, which was rumoured to be silent under the strict Scientology rules.

Just last week Tom admitted that Katie, who was raised as a Roman Catholic, had joined him as a follower of Scientology, but insisted she was free to take painkillers and do whatever she had to for a comfortable birth.

Brooke Shields, who publicly battled Tom after he criticised her for taking medication to deal with her postnatal depression, also gave birth last night to a baby girl, who she named Grier Hammond Henchy.

Suri is the first child for 27-year-old Katie and the first biological child for Tom, who already has two adopted children with ex-wife Nicole Kidman.

The birth of Suri comes exactly a year after Tom and Katie were first photographed together during a trip to Rome in April 2005- she had previously been engaged to American Pie actor Chris Klein.

Tom was first married to actress Mimi Rogers, followed by a 10-year-marriage to Oscar winner Nicole, he also dated Penelope Cruz for several years.

The whirlwind relationship between TomKat has been a very public affair with the usually quiet Cruise declaring his love for the Dawson's Creek star to an audience of millions on the Oprah Winfrey show.

Tom jumped up and down on Oprah's sofa dropping to one know pumping his fist in the air and declaring "I love this woman!"

The couple announced their engagement at a Paris news conference in mid-June but a wedding date has yet to be set.

Earlier in the week Cruise told a magazine he was thinking eating his wife's placenta straight after the birth, but no details of that have yet been revealed!
