False Idol: Was Chris Daughtry Robbed?

The conspiracy theories continue to abound regarding Chris Daughtry’s dismissal from American Idol last week. According to MSNBC, fans have come forward in droves complaining that the show’s phone lines mistakenly cast their vote for the wrong Idol. MSNBC.com has received numerous e-mails and bulletin board posts claiming that voters who dialed the first of Daughtry’s two phone numbers were greeted by a recorded message from Idol singer Katharine McPhee, thanking the caller for voting for her. A Fox spokesperson told MSNBC.com. “…AT&T and the independent voting company that oversee the voting have confirmed that there were no issues with the phone lines after Tuesday’s show.

More than 31,000 people have signed a petition demanding a recount on www.petitiononline.com, but if Fox knows what’s good for their ratings, they’ll use this opportunity to bring Daughtry back for a Dancing with the Stars-style rematch. You can check out the petition here Click Here.
