Anna Nicole's Mom Battles for Baby

Usmagazine.com has learned that Anna Nicole Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, is currently at a courthouse in the Bahamas attempting to remove Smith's 5-month-old daughter, Dannielynn Hope, from the care of Howard K Stern.

Usmagazine.com has learned that Arthur filed an official complaint at the local police station yesterday claiming she is worried for Dannielynn's safety. "Her only concern in all of this is getting the baby away from Howard Stern," said David Lee, a spokesman for Arthur. "She will do whatever she can to get the child away from [him]."

Lee said that on Friday Arthur went to the local Social Services department and two police stations "trying to find someone to do something" and that "the police promised to look into it."

"There is an injunction to prevent the baby from leaving the Bahamas," said Desmara Whitfield, an attorney for Arthur.

Sources say Arthur's unexpected move has Anna's partner Stern riled up, and their face-off sets the stage for what could be years of legal battles over Anna's estate and custody of her daughter.

Arthur has been ordered by Judge Isaacs not to comment on trial specifics.
