Angelina Changes Pax's Name

Angelina Jolie filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on April 16 requesting that the name of her newly adopted son, Pax Thien Jolie, be formally changed to Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt. A hearing will be held on the name change on May 31 at the Santa Monica Courthouse.

In court documents, Jolie, 31, states that she is "the sole adoptive parent of the child" and is requesting the name change "in order that her child's last name will incorporate and be combined with the last name of her partner and be the same as that of her other children."

The actress adopted the 3-year-old from a Vietnam orphanage in March and immediately changed his name from Pham Quang Sang to Pax Thien. Pax means "peace" in Latin, while Thien means "heaven" or "sky" in Vietnamese.

In January 2006, Jolie added Jolie-Pitt to the names of her adopted children, Zahara, 20 months, and Maddox, 5. She and actor Brad Pitt, 43, have been dating since 2005.
