For Once, Britney Spears is Not Left Holding the Bag

Heatherette & Lydia Hearst

Hollywood's hottest fashion designers should be obligated to drape their new fall lines on Britney Spears, thereby preventing the unsuspecting public from ever again being subjected to photos of the bikini-clad, underwear-eschewing pop tart. (Seriously, can't we just build this into the Geneva Convention rules or something?)

Sadly, trendy fashion house Heatherette wants nothing to do with the self-destructive signer, reports the New York Daily News. Spears requested the much sought-after, limited-edition Heatherette purse, but was turned down by the trendy clutch's designer, heiress/model Lydia Hearst.

"I'm only giving the bag to accomplished young women who are doing something positive to affect the world around them," Hearst tells the paper. "They are women I look up to and respect, like Gwyneth Paltrow and Sarah Jessica Parker and Anne Hathaway. They share the same high standards of giving back to the communities in which they live."

Ouch. How is Spears going to uphold her status as today's most fashionable style maven now?
