Celebs and their Rings

Married since September, mom-to-be Spears, 23, has already upgraded to Wedding Ring 2.0, a gift from husband Kevin Federline, 27. "I think it was because he wanted to buy her the diamond ring," a source close to the singer tells PEOPLE about the new 5.5-carat round solitaire. It replaces the five-carat rock she picked out from jewelry designer Cynthia Wolff last year.

She wants elephants, salsa dancing and bridesmaid Lindsay Lohan all under one wedding tent, so it's no wonder Nicole Richie, 24, has engagement bling like no other ("I have quite an imagination," she says). Her diamond-and-pink-sapphire ring came courtesy of Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein, 32, in February, but the two have yet to set a date for their nuptials.

"It's very age-appropriate for Katie," says jeweler Fred Leighton of the Edwardian-style, oval-shaped diamond of about five carats that Tom Cruise, 42, slipped on her finger June 17 at the Eiffel Tower. So when's the wedding? "Soon, soon," Holmes, 26, says.

After scoping out 10 rings (and taking two for test runs), the heiress finally has her rock – all 23-plus carats of it. Hilton, 24, had trouble picking a sparkler after accepting a proposal from boyfriend Paris Latsis, 22, in May, but she finally chose a white-diamond piece from a private dealer and designer. "The ring is beautiful," says a source,"and she's happy."

Although she and Ben Affleck, 32, have yet to announce their engagement, Garner, 33, isn't hiding her ring: a diamond-studded eternity band. But which will come first, a wedding or a baby? In May, sources told PEOPLE the Alias star was three months pregnant, and in June false rumors circulated that the two had tied the knot in Georgia.

Music exec Jordan Bratman found just the right ring for his February proposal to Aguilera. With a five-carat diamond-and-platinum sparkler designed by London jeweler Stephen Webster, Bratman, 27, got down on one knee and asked the 24-year-old pop star to be his wife. It "couldn't have been more perfect," she says.
