Kristin Cavallari: From The Beach To The Big Screen

The star of "Laguna Beach" has signed on for her first movie, an indie psychological thriller called "Fingerprints."

The news surfaced Monday (April 3) in Variety, but at Saturday's Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards (see "Will Smith Issues A Warning, Timberlake Thanks His Butt At Kids' Choice Awards"), Cavallari hinted there would be an announcement soon. "I've got something lined up, but I can't say," she teased with a smile. "You'll find out soon enough. I'm really excited. It's exactly what I want to do."

"Fingerprints" will co-star Brittany Snow ("The Pacifier," "American Dreams"), who is coming off a dark role on "Nip/Tuck." Snow will play a Southern girl who moves back in with her family after leaving rehab. Her and her sister, played by Cavallari, then get involved in an investigation into the strange paralysis of several residents.

Up-and-coming horror helmer Harry Basil is directing the movie, which is loosely based on an urban legend about haunted train tracks. Shooting will start in mid-April in Oklahoma.

Cavallari, who told MTV News last fall she was taking acting lessons, recently shot a guest appearance on "Veronica Mars." "It was a really great experience," she said Saturday.
