Anna Nicole “happy and upbeat” day before she died

One of the last people to see Anna Nicole Smith alive has spoken exclusively to Life & Style about the star’s tragic death.

Bobby Trendy, 27, best known as the decorator on Anna Nicole’s reality TV series, The Anna Nicole Smith Show, was with the 39-year-old former Playboy model in Florida yesterday, Feb. 7.

“This is such devastating news,” Bobby tells Life & Style. “I was with her yesterday in Hollywood, Florida, and she seemed happy and upbeat. She was so happy to see me. We hugged. She seemed like her old self, making silly jokes and laughing. I'm so shocked I can't even tell you. She was in a good mood — she looked fine, she seemed fine.”

Anna Nicole was found this afternoon, unconscious and not breathing, in a hotel room at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Hollywood, Fla., about 20 miles north of Miami. Emergency medical workers failed in their attempts to revive her. She was rushed to a local hospital shortly after 2 p.m.

Danielle Giordano, a spokeswoman for the Hard Rock, tells Life & Style: "Anna Nicole checked in Monday at 8 p.m. as a guest for vacation, and she was due to check out tomorrow."

Questions have arisen since Anna Nicole’s death about why she had a personal nurse traveling with her (in addition to the star’s bodyguard, the nurse was among a handful of people who saw the star shortly before she died). But Bobby tells Life & Style, “She had a nurse with her because she had fallen recently and hurt herself."

“It is a terribly sad time,” Bobby continues. “She was such a beautiful, wonderful woman and I will miss her. My heart goes out to her family.”

Bobby was one of many people offering condolences in the wake of Anna Nicole’s death. Playboy's Hugh Hefner issued a statement, saying: “I am very saddened to learn about Anna Nicole’s passing. She was a dear friend who meant a great deal to the Playboy family and to me personally. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and loved ones during this difficult time.”
