Is Gwen Stefani boycotting the VMA's because of Kelly Clarkson?

According to the "New York Post", Gwen Stefani is boycotting tonight's MTV Video Music Awards. Why???  Well, Gwen was NOT happy with how she was treated last year.  She thinks she was basically elbowed aside by Kelly Clarkson. For one thing, Gwen supposedly expected to close the show with her performance. . . but soon found out that it was Kelly who was getting that opportunity. But her resentment with MTV's supposed brown-nosing of Kelly didn't stop there.  Gwen was also upset that she didn't win enough awards. . . despite all her nominations.  Instead, Gwen thinks that all the awards she should'vewon went to Kelly.

  Some sort of "insider" told the "Post", quote, "She had a ton of nominations and was under the impression she would be taking home at least one award.  But every award, except that lame Best-Dressed award, went to Kelly Clarkson. . . "And every time Kelly won, the camera went straight to Gwen.  She felt set up." Gwen and her reps have denied comment on this story.  But, I guess we'll find out tonight if she does indeed have BEEF with MTV.

Carolyn Kepcher, Donald Trump's co-star on "The Apprentice," has heard him say "You're fired!" for the last time — because this time he said it to her, sources told The Post. The 36-year-old — who was running the Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff in Westchester, N.Y., and helping supervise the Trump National in Bedminster, N.J. — was let go earlier this week.

"She became a prima donna," said one insider. "Being on 'The Apprentice' went to her head. She was no longer focused on business. She was giving speeches for $25,000 and doing endorsements." Kepcher — who is married and has a son, Connor, 6, and a daughter Cassidy, 4 — had agents at ICM handling book and TV offers, and Westport Entertainment weighing speaking engagements and endorsements. She came out two years ago with a book, "Carolyn 101: Business Lessons from 'The Apprentice's' Straight Shooter."

Insiders say that when Trump tried to reach her recently, she was off on a trip to make a speech. Another time, while giving a tour of the pro shop at the Briarcliff club, she didn't seem to know the prices on any of the merchandise.

Nicole Richie and Brody Jenner's relationship may look like a typical quickie Hollywood romance, but don't be fooled: The pair go way back – he even predates Paris Hilton. "I was there when (Brody) was born!" Nicole's dad, Lionel Richie, a longtime friend of Jenner's songwriter mom Linda Thompson and Olympic track star dad Bruce Jenner. "They grew up together. To see them together now is like, 'Where are you going with this?' But they're having a wonderful time."

Just three months after splitting up with ex-fiancé DJ AM – for the second time – Richie, 24, has been cozying up with the 23-year-old Princes of Malibu star. (He recently split from yet another reality TV star, Laguna Beach alumna Kristin Cavallari.) Indeed, from lunch at Hollywood's La Conversation Café (a Nicole fave) last week, to dinner at Mr. Chow, to an A-list birthday bash for celeb stylist Rachel Zoe in Hollywood, the two "just fit together," says a source who knows Richie and Jenner.

"They are a very normal couple and Brody is a decent, nice, down-to-earth guy," the source continues. "Even though it's relatively new, it seems like they’ve been together forever." Or at least since the '80s, when the pals often played at one another's houses.

Back in the early Nineties, prior to fame and fortune, it was a killer green elf -- and not the paparazzi -- that was chasing Jennifer Aniston around. Jen made her feature film debut in the low budget horror movie "Leprechaun" and TMZ has uncovered her screen test and behind-the-scenes footage from the set of the 1993 film (shot in 1991). Jen is raw and uncensored as she spits gum into writer/director Mark Jones' hand.

But despite not being a seasoned actress at the time, we're told Jen behaved like a real pro. Aniston endured freezing cold temperatures while dressed in shorts that were anything but hot -- in every sense of the word. She also suffered a sprained ankle but took it all in stride and didn't complain.

"Leprechaun" also supersedes "the Rachel" as the scariest thing Jennifer Aniston has ever been in. A year after the film's release Jen skyrocketed to fame on "Friends" and the rest, as they say, is Hollywood history.

Jessica Admits to Plastic Surgery

In the October issue of Glamour, Jessica Simpson admits that she artificially plumped her lips late last fall. “I had that Restylane stuff,” she says. “It looked fake to me. I didn’t like that. But…it went away in, like, four months. My lips are back to what they were. Thank God!” New York City plastic surgeon Andrew Jacono says Restylane – a protein-based gel – is safer than collagen (which comes from animals): “It’s the gold standard.”

Brit's Kev to play sponger on Entourage

Kevin Federline is to appear on TV — as the deadbeat husband of a celebrity. Britney Spears’ hubby will be seen in three episodes of ITV4’s Entourage. The HBO series focuses on a hot young Hollywood actor and his freeloading mates. A source close to Kevin, 28, said: “He is really keen — and not insulted when he was asked to play the part.” The move came after wannabe rap star Kevin agreed to play a troublesome teen in crime drama CSI.

On August 24, the Laguna Beach star stepped out in L.A. in a t-shirt that read: YOU CAN HAVE HIM. “She has completely moved on, and that says it all,” a Cavallari pal tells Us Weekly. “She has had that shirt forever and finally had a reason to wear it.” The message was no doubt directed at Jenner’s new girlfriend, Nicole Richie, 24, who was by his side to celebrate his 23rd birthday at West Hollywood club Privilege on August 22 (where Cavallari made a cameo, but did not cross paths with Richie). Not that there’s any bad blood between the women. Says a Cavallari insider: “Kristin thinks Nicole is really nice and is friendly with her.” For his part, Jenner has his own take on the tee’s cryptic message. “I’m guessing she’s talking about her dog, Bentley, which she left at my house months ago,” he tells Us. “I’m happy to have him.”

Rumors had it that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were fighting, or Brad was kicked out of the house, and blah blah blah. According to usmagazine.com, this is far from the truth.

Despite tabloid reports of trouble in their relationship, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are enjoying their newfound domesticity, friends of the couple tell Us Weekly. “He is at a great moment in his life,” Kathleen Kennedy, a producer of Pitt’s upcoming film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button tells Us, dismissing rumors of trouble in the relationship. In fact, Jolie and the kids are regular visitors to the Ocean’s Thirteen set in Beverly Hills. “She comes almost every day,” a set source tells Us. The family spends time in Pitt’s trailer, where the actor, says a set insider, reads to Shiloh and takes care of diaper duty.

At times, Jolie leaves the kids with their nanny to see her Man at work (a source says Pitt “doesn’t think it’s a good idea” for the tots to watch him shoot). “He constantly looks up at her…and she gives him two thumbs up,” says the source. As a Jolie source tells Us, “They are happier than ever, living life as a family, working, creating and helping the world.”

Jessica Simpson is embarking on a not-so-public affair – with singer-songwriter John Mayer. "She's tiptoeing back into the dating world, It's the first stage. She's never been happier." Mayer, 28, began a co-headlining tour with Sheryl Crow on Aug. 24, and Simpson, 26, is expected to attend his concert in Jones Beach, N.Y., on Wednesday night. Simpson is currently in New York promoting her new album, A Public Affair, which was released Tuesday – although a bruised vocal cord has quashed any planned performances. (She did stop by MTV's TRL Tuesday and is set to appear on Today on Friday.)

Similarly, Mayer had to cancel his Hartford, Conn., appearance with Crow on Saturday due to laryngitis, the Associated Press reported. The two singers have known each other for several years and last year both attended Clive Davis's pre-Grammys party in Beverly Hills. Although Simpson has been linked to Jared Leto and her Employee of the Month costar and Teen Choice Awards cohost Dane Cook, Simpson has not officially dated anyone since her November 2005 separation from Nick Lachey.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart and University of Southern California basketball player Brynn Cameron are expecting a baby in the fall. Cameron, a 20-year-old USC junior, will sit out the upcoming basketball season. "It's an exciting time in their life," says a source who knows both athletes. "They both have support from their families." Leinart, a Heisman trophy winner and close pal of Nick Lachey, was linked romantically to Paris Hilton in the past. He is currently raising money to start the Matt Leinart Foundation, a learning center for underprivileged and disabled children. "Kids are important to Matt." "He really wants to help kids who can't help themselves."

Paris' at her C.D. Promo Tour at the HMV in Shibuya, Tokyo. I guess Paris is as dumb as dirt? Who knew? Apparently, a local radio station deejay was asking her very standard questions, and she would completely ignore them and smile stupidly for the camera.

At the c.d. signing, someone got a chance to talk to her briefly but all she wanted to talk about were "hot" nightclubs in Tokyo. "Oh my god, I was at Lex [Lexington Queen] last night and it SUCKED ASS. Where are like, the cool places to go?" (She sounded like a trucker's wife)

She took the persons advice and went to Ferria in the red-light zone, and ALLEGEDLY hooked up with her seventeen year old superfan who follows her around the globe. Hmmm I wonder what "hooked up" entails?

You won’t catch the Cruise clan showing off squirmy red-faced hospital photos or cheesy posed pics of their new spawn Suri. According to Page Six, Katie Holmes kept a friend in suspense recently during lunch at the Polo Lounge in Beverly Hills.

  When the unidentified man gave the new mother a baby outfit as a gift, she cooed, “This is perfect,” Holmes cooed. She then overshared, “My favorite thing is in the morning when Tom and me and the baby are all in bed together.” 

  But one thing Holmes didn’t do - which is typical of new mothers - was show her lunchtime companion photos of her pride and joy. We’re counting the days until Annie Liebowitz’s shots of the infant in Vanity Fair.

Paris steaming about Blue comments

Paris Hilton is furious with Cher’s son for claiming that the two had sex — and that then he worried that he caught something from her.

Elijah Blue Allman, Cher’s son by rocker Gregg Allman, went on the Howard Stern show last week and boasted that he had a fling with Hilton before she was famous. Allman, who is the lead singer and guitarist for the band Deadsy, said that after the encounter, he became so worried that he might have contracted a disease that he went downstairs and scrubbed his private parts with a household cleaner, probably Tilex.

Hilton is “not happy” about Allman’s comments, says a source, even though he described Hilton as a “sweet girl.” Alman also said he had sex years ago with Hilton’s reality show co-star and former best friend, Nicole Richie, and says they’re now friends.

Overpaid!

New research shows what the rest of us already knew – actors like Mel Gibson, Nicole Kidman, and Lindsay Lohan make too much freakin’ money. According to The New York Times, Sumner Redstone was correct in cutting Tom Cruise loose from Paramount Pictures last week, not because of his aberrant behavior, but because his star power doesn’t deliver the box office goods.

  “There is no statistical correlation between stars and [a film’s] success,” said S. Abraham Ravid, a professor of economics and finance at Rutgers University, who, in a study of almost 200 films released between 1991 and 1993, found that after eliminating other factors influencing the success of a film, a star had no impact on its rate of return.

  Even studio chiefs acknowledge that a star does not guarantee success. Bewitched, starring Kidman, cost an estimated $85 million but took in only about $62 million at the American box office by late 2005. “If you pay a star a great deal of money for a film that people don’t want to see, then it won’t work,” said Sidney Sheinberg, the former president of MCA Universal.

  Looking across a sample of more than 2,000 movies exhibited between 1985 and 1996, they found that only seven actors and actresses — Tom Hanks, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sandra Bullock, Jodie Foster, Jim Carrey, Barbra Streisand and Robin Williams — had a positive impact on the box office. Only two directors, Steven Spielberg and Oliver Stone, pushed up a movie’s revenue. Research found the Hollywood Buzzkill Award goes to Winona Ryder, Sharon Stone and Val Kilmer – they were associated with a smaller box-office revenue.
